Mike Neary Personal ProfileWhilst serving for 22 years in the RAF Regiment, I learnt how to hone the leadership and first aid skills of others due to having various roles from operational deployment on Infantry squadrons to training roles as a recruit training instructor and station defense advisor. Prior to my leaving the service, I studied and was accredited with a BA Hons in Education as well as a Cert Ed, enabling me to lecture in various fields. I was awarded a commendation in the New Year’s Honours List for meritorious service in the field of operational training. On leaving the service I held a lecturing post in a College of Further Education as course team leader for Public Services. This role involved the academic teaching of leadership, team building and psychology as well as teaching outdoor adventure and sport. Within my role I was also an advanced practitioner; this involved the professional and personal development of staff, mentoring and coaching new lecturers. To my credit within two years I turned the poor level of academic achievement and retention to 100% achievement and 96% retention. My Personal EthosI now feel as the lead trainer advisor of METT I can only take this success forward and develop those delegates who wish to achieve and succeed on our excellent varied training courses. |
